Everton will sense an opportunity for derby glory this evening as they look to pile the misery on champions Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

The blue half of Merseyside have not tasted victory over their red rivals since 2010, a run consisting of 23 games across all competitions. A win at Anfield last came in 1999.

With Liverpool's league form having fallen off a cliff, Everton will take heart and further incentive that victory would see them move level on points with a game in hand.

Liverpool have lost three league games in succession for the first time since 2014 and also their last three at Anfield, although Everton's league form has also faltered with only one win in their last six.

Date, time and venue

Liverpool vs Everton is scheduled for a 5.30pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday, February 20, 2021.

The match will be held behind closed doors at Anfield.

Team news

Fabinho is not fit to return for Liverpool, so loan signing Ozan Kabak is set to start his first match at Anfield.

The Brazil international, who has been standing in at centre-back, has missed the last two matches with a muscle problem and so Kabak will continue in central defence alongside Jordan Henderson.

Midfielder Naby Keita has returned in training after two months out but - after a midweek illness - manager Jurgen Klopp has to make a late decision on his participation.

Liverpool provisional squad: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Kabak, Henderson, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Jones, Salah, Firmino, Mane, Kelleher, Tsimikas, N Williams, R Williams, Davies, Phillips, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita, Shaqiri, Origi.

Everton will have England forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin available again after he missed two matches with a hamstring injury. Defender Yerry Mina, though, faces up to a month out with a calf problem suffered against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Brazil midfielder Allan, who has not featured since mid-December with a hamstring injury, is back in contention again, but Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Achilles) continues his rehabilitation.

Everton provisional squad: Pickford, Holgate, Keane, Digne, Coleman, Godfrey, Sigurdsson, Doucoure, Davies, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Olsen, Nkounkou, Coleman, Delph, Rodriguez, Gomes, Onyango, King, Bernard, Allan, Iwobi.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Everton

Liverpool benefited from two mistakes against RB Leipzig but looked somewhat back on form as they controlled the majority of the game. Everton desperately need Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a focal point to their attack. Going for a morale-boosting home win.
