Liverpool vs Everton prediction: How will Premier League fixture play out today?

Everton head to Anfield on Saturday in the Premier League, with the Toffees’ recent form looking poor - though it pales into insignificance compared to their derby record. They haven’t beaten Liverpool since 2010, well over a decade ago now, and in away matches it’s even worse - all the way back to September 1999 since they claimed the points at the Reds’ home ground.

More recently, Carlo Ancelotti’s team lost to Manchester City in their most recent game, spurning the chance to go level on points with Liverpool with one game in hand. They remain seventh in the table, with the Reds sixth, two points outside the Champions League spots after dreadful form of their own.

A 3-1 loss away to Leicester last weekend was Liverpool’s fourth defeat in six league games, but they did return to form in midweek to see off RB Leipzig in the Champions League. A 2-0 win leaves them in the driving seat ahead of the second leg.

The Toffees are likely to be close to full strength for this encounter, with top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin back among the options to start the game, so Liverpool’s patchwork central defence will have a tough time ensuring they keep the visitors out and extend their winless run in the derby.

What is the team news?

The Reds remain without all three centre-backs to long-term injuries, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. Diogo Jota is also out, along with James Milner. Fabinho is also a near-certainty to miss the game through injury, but Naby Keita could be in the squad after returning to full team training recently.

Everton will be missing Yerry Mina, as well Jean-Philippe Gbamin, but both Allan and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are available to start after injury.
