Denis Norden dead: Legendary It’ll Be Alright On The Night host dies aged 96

It’ll be Alright on the Night host and scriptwriter Denis Norden has died aged 96, his family said.

The former comedy writer and television presenter wrote scripts for Hollywood films as well as presenting on ITV favourite shows, such as You've Been Framed.

Mr Norden died on Wednesday morning after spending "many weeks" at the Royal Free Hospital in north London,his children, Nick and Maggie Norden, said.

They said: "We'd like to say a huge thank you to all the dedicated staff and doctors who have looked after him - with much devotion.

"A wonderful dad, a loving grandfather and great great-grandfather - he gave his laughter mongering to so many.

"He will be in our hearts forever."

Mr Norden, from Hackney, joined the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, where his writing flare began.

During his service, he began writing shows in the Royal Air Force for troops to enjoy.

In his later life, he was well-known to television audiences for ITV shows Looks Familiar, It’ll be Alright on the Night and Laughter File.
