We're used to seeing the likes of Stuart, Kevin and Bob on adventures in the animated franchise Despicable Me but now, it seems a whole load of life-sized minions have been let loose in China's Hunan province – and everyone's going bananas.

Yep, those pesky babbling yellow creatures (or tourists dressed up as them) have been spotted white water rafting down a river at Lianyuan in Loudi to apparently "avoid the heat" – because what better way to cool off than dressing up in a sweaty minion suit?

Despicable Me 3 was released on June 30 and the majority of the reviews for the animated threequel have been pretty positive (mostly three stars and more), with Universal safe in the knowledge that it'll make a lot of money.

How much so far? According to Box Office Mojo, the film's already taken $739.6 million (£565 million) at cinemas around the globe.

Despicable Me 3 sees Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) discover he has a long-lost twin brother, as well as tackling his most formidable nemesis to date, '80s-obsessed villain Balthazar Bratt, voiced by South Park's Trey Parker.
