Local Captures Tailspin of Deadly Brazil Plane Crash

A resident in the Brazilian city of Vinhedo captured the dramatic moment a passenger plane plummeted from the sky on Friday, August 9, killing all 62 people onboard.

Footage filmed by Aline Salvi, who said she filmed it from her home, shows the plane hurtling toward the ground on Friday afternoon.

“I was looking at the landscape on my balcony, as I always do, when I saw a plane crashing,” Salvi told Storyful.

According to Sao Paolo state officials, the plane departed Cascavel in Parana state and was heading to Guarulhos, near the city of Sao Paulo, when it plummeted out of the sky and crashed in a residential area of Vinhedo on Friday afternoon.

The black boxes from the plane were retrieved and taken to Brasilia for analysis to determine the cause of the crash, the Brazilian Air Force said. Credit: Aline Salvi via Storyful
