New local flood alerts have been issued in Warwickshire by the Environment Agency. There are now more places told to brace for flooding.

Earlier this morning, Upper Avon River Swift and Clay Coton Brook, the River Leam and River Itchen and also the Middle Avon Rugby to Bidford were all put on flood alert. Now more have been added.

These include the River Blythe in Warwickshire, the River Arrow and River Alne and the River Dene in South East Warwickshire. The Environment Agency says it is monitoring the river levels and said they 'expect them to rise' again tonight (November 27).

It has urged locals to avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This echoes a message from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

It comes after Southam Fire Station firefighters were called out to rescue motorists from flooded roads twice in the past 24 hours. Crews used specialist water rescue equipment to safely bring people to dry land.

With the alerts in place, the fire service has issued a plea to motorists. "Please don't drive through flood water no matter how shallow it may seem," the 999 service posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
