Millennials may be down with all the very latest in technology, but they’re sometimes lacking a little in basic life skills – and one U.S. library has come up with a solution.

Staff at North Bend Public Library, Oregan, feel many of the problems faced by 16-25 year-olds can be resolved in a series of ‘Adulting 101’ classes.

The basic how to guides kicked off last month with recipe tips and ideas for how to cook creatively in university halls – who doesn’t like the sound of ironed grilled cheese?

Next up is ‘Financial know-how’, which will guide millennials through the basics of setting a budget, filing a tax return and building credit.

Assistant Director of Library Services Teresa Lucas told KCBY: “We felt it was important to bring Adulting 101 to the North Bend Public Library to provide more resources for young people on how they can better their lives in our community.”

In these dark days of fake news, a class aimed at ‘finding and understanding real news on the internet’ couldn’t be better timed.

Sessions on getting a job, moving out of home and cleaning an oven are also on the agenda, as well as tips on how to check and refill your car’s oil.

All of which poses the question: can over 25s come too? And – great news for anyone living in the North Bend area – yes, they can!

A library representative has confirmed that there is no age limit, and “anyone is welcome”.

Here’s hoping they bow to one commenter on their Facebook page, who demanded that they livestream future sessions. Only problem there is that it might stop the tech-savvy target audience from turning up…
