Local Officials Assess Flood Repair Work in Chosica District

Rebuilding efforts continued in the Lurigancho-Chosica district of Peru’s Lima Province on March 21 as local officials assessed the River Rimac, which had flooded the area after days of heavy torrential rains swept through the country.

The Municipality of Chosica uploaded this video of Chosica Mayor Luis Bueno Quino, who is wearing a dark blue baseball cap and vest, as he inspects the River Rimac.

El Comercio reported on March 19 that more than 4,000 Lurigancho-Chosica residents were affected by flooding, landslides and overflowing rivers, quoting the the National Emergency Center (COEN). More than 2,000 tons of humanitarian aid, including food and fresh water, have been donated to Chosica and other districts and provinces affected by the flooding, including Mala, Canete, Huachipa and Carapongo, Andina reported.
