Locals Clear Downed Trees From Roads After Hurricane Maria

Downed trees blocked a highway in the Dominican Republic resort town of Bavaro, Punta Cana, on Wednesday, September 20, after Hurricane Maria tore through the northern part of Caribbean island.

The downgraded Category 3 storm was approaching the Turks and Caicos islands on Thursday night.

This footage shows locals cutting a tree in order to clear the roads. A crashed bus can also be seen on the side of the road. Local news outlet Noticias Sin reported the driver was injured when his bus was hit by a falling coconut tree. He did not have passengers at the time of the incident.
