Locals Pause in Street as Chernivtsi Holds Moment of Silence For War Dead
Local officials and residents in the southwestern Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi held a moment of silence on the morning of Friday, April 22, honoring those killed in the Russian invasion.
The ceremony, which is held daily at 9 am, sees locals pause as they go about errands to stand for the ceremony. Unlike other areas in the country, Chernivtsi, located north of the border with Romania, has largely escaped damage from fighting.
