A woman who was left badly scarred in a horrific acid attack in London has shared a picture showing her amazing recovery one year on.

Aspiring model Resham Khan and her cousin Jameel Muhktar were attacked when a man threw acid through their car window on her birthday on 21 June last year.

Both suffered life changing burns and Ms Khan's face was badly scarred.

She has now posted a picture online celebrating her 22nd birthday stating: "Yeah, what the hell you're only twenty-two once."

She also shared a glimpse into her birthday celebrations, posting a video that showed a scrolling message from inside a nightclub which said: "Live your best life. Resham is 22!"

She also posted an image on Instagram showing her enjoying the sunshine in the holiday resort of Marmaris in Turkey.

She wrote online: "Hotel by the beach please x"

Mr Muhktar lost hearing in one ear and suffered third degree burns to his head and body. After the sentencing he said Tomlin should face the death penalty.

Both victims had considered ending their own lives as a result of the attack, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

The court saw CCTV which showed Tomlin chasing the pair's vehicle as the victims tried to flee the attack before they crashed.

Witnesses described seeing both victims "jumping around as if they were on fire" and their clothes "melting on to the ground".

After the sentencing Mr Muhktar said:"If this was in America he could have been given the death penalty. That's what he deserves."
