The family of murdered policeman Pc Keith Palmer have visited the spot where he died in New Palace Yard.

Wiping away tears, relatives were led by police officers onto the cobbled driveway of the House of Commons on Saturday lunchtime.

They stopped to look at the scene, passing a floral tribute which had been laid out on steps close to where Pc Palmer fell after being stabbed by terrorist Khalid Masood.

The large family gathering included a number of middle-aged men and women, an older woman and a younger man.

They then moved into Westminster Hall where an initial book of condolence has been replaced by three more, and floral tributes line the walls. The grieving family spent time reading the hundreds of tributes left by politicians, Parliamentary staff and members of the public. They also knelt on the floor to look at notes left on dozens of bouquets of flowers.

Tourists visiting Parliament from all over the world were asked to wait at the back of Westminster Hall while the relatives visited the scene and to use different entrances and exits to give the family privacy.
