London Covid hotspots revealed as 1 in 25 in England test positive in a week

London’s latest Covid hospots have been revealed as new figures also show around one in 25 people in England had Covid last week.Some 2.7 million people across the UK are estimated to have had Covid last week, up 18% from 2.3 million the previous week, according to new data from the Office for National Statistics.This is the highest estimate since late April but it is still below the record high of 4.9 million at the end of March.Fresh figures also reveal for the week ending July 1, there were eighteen Covid hotspot areas in London with a weekly case rate higher than 400 per 100,000.The highest rates of cases in the capital in that week were found in East Putney which had a case rate of 510 per 100,000, according to the ONS data.
