Home is…

St John’s Wood. I live there with my two brothers and two dogs.

Where would you recommend for a first date?

I would say going on a dog walk, but you’ve got to be a very serious [prospect] to meet my dog. I’d probably go for a coffee somewhere — I like the outdoor area at Chiltern Firehouse.

Best meal you’ve had?

At The River Café. I love the ravioli there, and the meat is always good. But the best thing is the dessert, the almond tart and the chocolate nemesis cake. They are my favourite by far.

Where would you most like to be buried?

I’d have my ashes scattered in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. I don’t really have any deep connections to London other than Tottenham. So that’s as good a place as any.

What would you do if you were Mayor for the day?

I’d have a car-free day. It would be beautiful weather because I can choose that, too, and all the restaurants would put stuff out on the streets for outdoor dining.

Who is your hero?

Rafael Nadal. Growing up, tennis was very big in my family and my brothers and I were huge Nadal fans. I never would have gone for tennis over football, though.

What makes someone a Londoner?

I feel like London is Londoners. It’s a big city but there are lots of places where you have that personal connection, like in your local shops. You probably don’t get that in most big cities.

Where do you stay in London?

I stay at the hotel at the training ground a lot. And Café Royal — I know the architect, David Chipperfield, so I’ve stayed there a few times on his recommendation.

Best thing a cabbie has ever said to you?

There’s a lot of Tottenham fans among the cab drivers. I’ve got a few free fares.

Who is the most iconic Londoner in history?

The Queen. I love the Queen — I’m a big fan of The Crown.

If you could buy any building in London and live there, which would it be?

There’s a house in Richmond Park that’s hidden right in the middle. I think the royal family used to own it and now it’s some sort of school. I might have completely invented this though.

What do you collect?

Lego. I find making Lego very peaceful. I’ve got a lot of cars, cranes, motorbikes. The Land Rover Defender is my favourite piece of Lego and my favourite car.

Where do you go to let your hair down?

Hampstead Heath with my dog — a labrador called Clay.

Which shops do you rely on?

The Conran Shop, 100 per cent. Panzer’s in St John’s Wood is where I go to get all my fruit and vegetables, and it’s just started doing sushi, too.

Who do you call when you want to have fun?

I’d scream upstairs or downstairs for my brother.

What are you up to at the moment for work?

Football and I’ve launched a [restaurant recommendation] app called Spotlas that takes up the rest of my time.
