The pollen count will be high this weekend, the Met Office warned. Across London, the weather forecaster has issued a hayfever warning for Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2.

Grass pollen will rise due to the warm and dry weather, said the Met Office. It added: "Nettle, dock & plantain too."

As well as lots of pollen, the weather forecast says it will be cloudy with sunny intervals by the afternoon on Saturday. Temperatures will peak at 19C. Likewise on Sunday, with more sun in the afternoon and highs of 22C.

The Met Office also warned that fungal spore levels would be high. These trigger respiratory symptoms in people, such as sneezing, runny nose, cough, congestion, wheezing, and much more, according to University of Worcester researchers. The Met Office says there will be a little Alternaria and medium Cladosporium during the warm weather, with Leptosphaeria higher after the rain.

For those suffering from sore eyes and itchy skin, many hayfever sufferers are recommending Balmonds Skin Salvation. Skin Salvation was first created by a mum who said she wanted something natural that wouldn't sting her baby's eczema-prone skin.

But hayfever sufferers have also reported it working to alleviate symptoms, simply by smearing a fine layer of the balm around nostrils, over upper lip, and around the eyes to act as a barrier to trap pollen. That said it is recommended to wash the face with a mild soap after being outside and reapplying a thin layer of the balm.
