My London: Pamela Anderson

Home is…

A waterfront cabin on Vancouver Island, Canada, and my Malibu Colony beach house, though I rent that out to pay the bills.

Where do you stay when you’re in London?

I adore the Covent Garden Hotel. All the rooms are different and interesting and the staff treat me like family I’ve been there so much. Also, it’s across the road from Coco de Mer — my favourite place to shop.

Last play you saw?

No Man’s Land. Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are a pleasure to be close to, if only on the stage. Such magnetism.

Best place for a first date?

I’m not a good person to ask. I’ve never been on a date.

First thing you do when you come to London?

Visit the National Gallery, and the Ecuadorian embassy to catch up with friends.

Favourite shops?

Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney.

Best meal you’ve had?

A recent dinner at 5 Hertford Street was lovely. I love the decor and ambience.

Earliest London memory?

I came here to promote Baywatch; it was my first trip to Europe. I had no idea how popular the show was in the UK or how insane the paparazzi would be.

What would you do if you were Mayor for the day?

Tackle animal issues, of course. I have a few political concerns, mostly about the UK’s foreign policy, but also concerning refugees.

If you could buy any building in London which would it be?

The Wallace Collection in the West End, but only if I was allowed to keep all the art. If not, a beautiful pied-à-terre apartment in Covent Garden would be nice — somewhere I could turn into my London boudoir.

Favourite music?

I love the blues. We lost an angel of the blues recently. I have every song by Chuck Berry.

Have you ever had a run-in with a London policeman?

I think so… probably. I’ve lived.

Best thing a cabbie has said to you?

They have all been so patient. I’m known for having drivers wait days for me, poor things.

Biggest extravagance?

Property, travelling, lingerie.

Who’s your hero?

I love anybody bold and brave. Vivienne Westwood has had the most profound effect on me. She uses her platform to educate the world and she introduced me to Julian Assange — they are my most interesting teachers.

Best piece of advice you’ve been given?

From my mother: ‘Live daringly.’

What do you collect?

I’ve collected art for the past 20 years. Most of my friends are some form of artist including Ed Ruscha, David LaChapelle, Richard Prince, Philip Treacy, Sante D’Orazio and Jeff Koons. Artists seem to kind of collect me. Ha!
