London Police Seen Patrolling on Horses Amid UK's Nationwide Lockdown

Police were seen patrolling central London on horseback on March 27 amid nationwide restrictions on movement announced by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

UK officials said individuals will only be allowed to leave their homes to shop for basic necessities, to engage in one form of exercise per day, for any medical need, to provide care or to help a vulnerable person, or to travel to and from work. Participating in gatherings of more than two people in public spaces is generally not permitted.

The police were given broader powers to enforce the rules on March 26, including issuing fines of up to £60 to individuals breaching the restrictions.

Police across the country have been seen enforcing the restrictions, including in this video shared on March 26, which shows a police checkpoint set up in Devon, England.
