Now in its 23rd year of holding three Michelin stars Gordon Ramsay ’s flagship restaurant in Chelsea is one of the most exclusive establishments in the capital. It has attracted thousands of visitors over the years, but some seem to have neglected the dress code of late.

So much so that the celebrity-owned eatery has been forced to give diners a reminder to smarten up. It now explicitly asks guests to 'avoid shorts, tracksuits and hoodies', although there's no mention of being banned or thrown out by the notoriously fiery Hell Kitchen’s star if they fail to comply.

When making a booking, the website reads: "We would like all of our guests to feel free to express their own individual style, however, we do ask guests to avoid shorts, tracksuits and hoodies. Smart trainers are fine.

"We know lots of our guests like to dress smartly which we appreciate. Ultimately we want every guest to feel at home."

Gordon Ramsay set up his first wholly owned restaurant in 1988. By 2001, it had gained three Michelin stars, which the establishment retains today.

The Chelsea site is described as providing 'elegant modern French cuisine using the finest seasonal ingredients and employing both classic and modern techniques.' And to celebrate its 36th anniversary, an extension to the restaurant will soon open on level 60 at 22 Bishopsgate.

This extension is one of a new series of the chef's establishments due to open next year, all in the same building. Together with Lucky Cat, also on level 60, which will offer an Asian-inspired menu with 360-degree views of the city, the two new eateries will claim the title of London's highest restaurant.

The 57-year-old said: “This is more than just a new opening – it’s a significant milestone for our business. We’re not only launching the highest culinary experiences in London, but also creating a vibrant culinary hub at the incredible 22 Bishopsgate."

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is located at 68 Royal Hospital Rd, London SW3 4HP.
