The latest London weather maps show the exact date we can expect snow to fall on the capital. The Met Office has warned we can expect a cooler than average February due to strong easterly winds moving across the Atlantic Ocean.

Forecasters say this will "exacerbate the cold feel" between Sunday. February 9 and Tuesday, February 18 as rain and snow showers are also expected. But Netweather believes London could expect snow before this cool period.

Maps show there is an 85 per cent chance of snow falling overnight between Friday and Saturday (February 7-8). Wintry weather could then hover over London throughout the next day, although this is less likely according to experts.

Temperatures are set to gradually drop from 10C on Wednesday, February 5 to 6C on Saturday when snow is expected. The Met Office has not forecast snow this weekend, but expects snow showers to hit the UK next week during the upcoming cold snap.

It's long range forecast reads: "Thereafter, there is a risk of some sleet or snow showers feeding in on the east to southeasterly wind, though many places may remain dry.

"Also a small chance of Atlantic fronts making inroads from the west, especially later in this period, which could also bring the possibility of at least transient snow. Overnight frost is likely to feature during this period, particularly where skies are clear."

Netweather says the Scottish Highlands is the most likely part of the UK to experience snow over the next few days. This weekend, weather maps suggest the wintry weather moving north to London from continental Europe will also hit East Anglia, Yorkshire, Northumbria and eastern Scotland.
