London taxi driver ‘shot at’ in Soho while sitting in stationary traffic

A gunshot was reportedly fired at the window of a black cab taxi driver on a busy Central London road. The incident allegedly took place at around 10am, this morning (Tuesday, October 1).

The taxi driver reported that the shot was fired towards his vehicle while he was sitting in stationary traffic on Dean Street, Westminster. The shot is said to have struck his window.

Police have said that no injuries occurred as a result of the incident and that they have launched an investigation. Road closures are also currently in place.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “Police were called at 10:10hrs on Tuesday, 1 October to a report of a firearms discharge on Dean Street, Westminster.

“The driver of a London black taxi reported he was stationary in traffic when a shot was fired towards his vehicle, striking the window.

“There were no injuries. An investigation has been launched and road closures remain in place.”
