London Underground chemical attack sees ‘irritant’ thrown into man’s eyes

A chemical attack outside a London Underground station has seen a man rushed to hospital. The victim had an ‘irritant’ liquid thrown into his eyes near to the station.

No arrest has yet been made, with police appealing to the public to come forward if they have any information on the worrying incident. Police were called to North Greenwich Underground station yesterday evening (Saturday, November 9) at around 7pm to reports that a man had liquid thrown into his eyes.

The man was rushed to hospital, where his injuries were deemed non life-threatening or life-changing, although the liquid was confirmed to be an ‘irritant’. While there has been no arrest, police are asking anyone with information to call them on 101, quoting reference 6089/09nov.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “Police were called shortly before 19:00hrs on Saturday, 9 November, to a man who had liquid thrown into his eyes.

“The liquid was found to be an irritant. The man was taken to hospital for treatment and his condition is not life-threatening of life-changing.

“There has been no arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, ref 6089/09nov.”
