London weather forecast shows freezing drop to -6C forecast by Met Office
More wintry weather can be expected this weekend as temperatures could plunge to -6C overnight. People living across the city woke up to flurries of snow this morning (Tuesday, November 19) as the Met Office warned of transport disruption.
Northern parts of England have already seen blankets of snow as icy conditions take hold. Forecasters are expecting this cool period to continue throughout the week.
Highs of 5C are expected both today and tomorrow (Wednesday, November 20), dropping even lower to 4C on Thursday. This is coupled with freezing overnight temperatures.

Wednesday night will particularly be cold as forecasters expect the mercury to drop to -1C. Londoners can then expect to feel highs of 6C on Friday, before eventually surging back up to 13C and 11C on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
But despite this warmer weekend forecast, the Met Office hasn't ruled out the possibility of freezing temperatures continuing. On Sunday night the Met Office says the lowest possible temperature is a bitter -6C.
The cool temperatures we're currently experiencing are due to an Arctic maritime airmass which is drifting south from northern Britain.
Dan Suri, Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, said: “The associated frontal system, marking the boundary between cold air in the north and milder conditions to the south, will bring disruptive snow to some areas between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
“This is likely to coincide with rush hour, leading to disruption to some transport routes across a central swathe of the UK on Tuesday morning. It will also be windy in the far south. Updates to the warnings throughout the week are likely, so it is important to stay up to date with the latest forecast.”
Met Office weather warning for snow and ice are currently in place in the Midlands, Yorkshire, northern Scotland and Northern Ireland.
