As yet another heatwave has seen temperatures soar in London, the leading weather forecasters have placed their bets on how long this warm weather will continue in the capital. Although the sun has gone in today (Monday, September 2), the mercury is expected to remain high over the next few weeks according to BBC Weather.

According to the weather forecaster, it's due to remain above 20C in London for almost two weeks, only dropping down to below that temperature on Friday, September 13. Until then, we're due to see fairly steady temperatures of around 21C to 23C over the course of the next week or two.

However, while we're mostly going to be able to enjoy fairly sunny weather, there are a few days that aren't looking so good. Saturday, September 7, could see rain all morning, with occasional sun in the afternoon, while the following day is predicted to be drizzly in the morning, with some sunshine in the afternoon.

But the first day when it's due to dip below 20C is Friday, September 13, according to the BBC. The day is forecast to see "light showers and a gentle breeze", with highs of 19C.

The Met Office's weather predictions only go as far as Monday, September 9, and again they show no sign of cooler days in the next week or so. Temperatures will be steady, the Met Office says, with a high of 24C on Friday, September 6.

The Met Office's longer-term outlook says: "Towards the end of the week, higher pressure is likely to be focussed over northern parts of the UK, with low pressure over the nearby continent. The driest conditions are most likely over Scotland and Northern Ireland, with a greater chance of rain or showers, perhaps thundery, in England and Wales.

"These showery conditions are expected to become more widespread into the weekend, with even some northern areas possibly seeing rain or showers at times. It will also become more humid, especially in the south and east, with potential for some very warm conditions.

"Little overall change is anticipated into the following week, with central and southern areas most prone to rain/showers at times, while it tends to be somewhat drier in the far north."
