Snow in London: Capital blanketed after cold snap takes hold as Londoners share their best pictures
Londoners have been sharing their best wintry weather pictures after parts of the capital experienced flurries of snow as a cold snap took hold across the country.
Temperatures struggled to get much above freezing on Tuesday evening, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for ice covering much of the UK.
Excited Londoners shared pictures and video as snow began to fall across the capital, with snowflakes being reported first in Ruislip in the early afternoon before hitting the rest of London.
Londoners joked that the capital was likely to grind to a halt after the snow appeared. One person wrote on Twitter: “London is about to freak out and shut down.”
Another said: “Snow in London! Bracing for immediate train network collapse.”
“London, you have ruined snow for me... usually I’d be jumping with joy seeing snow... but instead it’s filled me with dread travelling into work tomorrow,” one person wrote.
