A gorgeous café that could be straight out of a fairy tale is hidden away in an ancient woodland in North London. Queens Wood Cafe is a community space tucked away in Highgate, and has even been named as one of the cutest cafes in the city by Visit London.

It's easy to see why - the cafe and community space is built out of wood and it looks like a fairy tale cabin. You wouldn't be surprised if Little Red Riding Hood appeared, carrying a basket and ready to see her grandmother.

The wooden building dates back more than 200 years, as it was first a woodkeeper's lodge. But now, it's been transformed into a café and community space and is very popular with locals and visitors alike, Visit London has said.

The café sells delicious food and homemade cakes, as well as a variety of teas, coffees and alcoholic drinks for when you need something stronger. But as well as a cafe, there is also a community space which offers a variety of events including poetry, music and creative writing sessions in the tranquil surroundings of Queens Wood.

The cafe even has a permaculture garden which is run by volunteers. Much of the produce grown in the garden is then used in the fresh food made by the cafe, while the rest is sold to continue to support the community organisation.

Queens Wood itself is an ancient woodland which dates back to the 1600s. It's barely five minutes' walk from Highgate Tube station, but you'd never even know you're in London.
