Long Lost Family returns and makes everyone emotional
Long Lost Family returned for a new series tonight (July 26) and, as expected, it was an emotional rollercoaster.
If you didn't know the premise of the ITV series already, people who have been trying to find their relatives but struggling are aided by hosts Nicky Campbell and Davina McCall to complete their search.
As you can imagine, families reconnecting, or admitting their guilt, or thinking about all the years lost, really gets the people on TV crying, and then the presenters start crying, which gets us crying and why don't they make bigger boxes of tissues?
Tonight's episode saw a divorced couple reunite after they had to give away their child for adoption because a child born out of wedlock in the old days was something that people weren't 'supposed' to do:
It's a little corny, but #longlostfamily tells the story of society's intolerance of illegitimacy in the 1950s, 60s and 70s

It breaks my heart that so many people were forced to give up their babies years ago 😢😢 those decisions were so cruel. #LongLostFamily

WTF? The council throwing her and the baby out cos of overcrowding?! Can't bear this 😥😥 #shameful #heartbreaking #longlostfamily

Hard to think there was a time that having a baby young and out of wedlock was practically a crime ! 😥 #longlostfamily

Elsewhere, the team helped a woman find her long-lost sister, but it came with the heartbreaking discovery that her mum had passed away and she would never be able to meet her:
Fucking hell as if her mum has died without ever getting the chance to see her again 😭😭😭😭 #longlostfamily

Oh how sad for Cathie #longlostfamily but let's hope her family want to meet her

Here are a handful of the many tweets that stood out to us, including people saying that the double whammy of Long Last Family and Love Your Garden was too much for a Wednesday:
#loveyourgarden followed by #longlostfamily I'm turning in to my old mum 🙈
