All traffic was temporarily held on the M11 northbound this morning (Saturday, May 25) following a crash. The incident is also affecting the southbound carriageway, reportedly due to onlookers slowing down as they pass the incident.

The incident was first reported shortly after 11am this morning on the M11 close to junction 6 northbound with junction 27 of M25. Queues were building behind the temporary hold on all traffic on the carriageway at around 11.17am.

The traffic halt caused long queues to build behind the incident. All lanes have now been reopened but residual delays will remain for some time.

There has been no official statement on the nature of the incident from emergency services. There were also earlier delays on the M11 southbound near Saffron Walden following a crash near junction 9.

Elsewhere, delays are expected all day around Maldon due to road closures for cycling event Ride London which returns to Essex this weekend.
