New-look Aldi back open today - and these are the middle aisle bargains

A bigger and better Aldi store is welcoming back customers today - and there's even more bargains to be had in the middle aisle. The discount food retailer has transformed the Leek store as part of a £600 million investment.

The 740 sqm branch now boasts wider aisles and clearer signs. The fresh bakery section has been moved to the final aisle after shoppers complained about their rolls, croissants and loaves being squashed at the bottom of their trolleys.

There is also an area dedicated to British meat and fish, as well as sections for the Lacura health and beauty products, Mamia babycare products and beers, wines and spirits.

In addition, new easy-to-browse freezers have been installed. And an improved ‘Food to Go’ section is based at the front of the store, offering a choice of fresh salads, sandwiches and sushi.

The Haywood Street supermarket - which employs 28 staff members - will reopen from 8am today (July 11). The refurbishment has also created extra jobs.

Shoppers can also browse in the 'Aisle of Aldi' where they will find Specialbuys which are available every Thursday and Sunday. During re-opening week, the store will be offering a range of outdoor toys and games, including a folding slide for £27.99, wooden garden games for £12.99 per set, and a badminton set with net for £24.99.

Store manager Neil Deaville said: “The store is looking fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome our loyal customers back so they can see it for themselves. We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our stores is on a par with the products and service they’re used to.”

The store, which has 86 car parking spaces, is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 10pm and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
