Take a look behind the scenes at West Dunbartonshire's Doors Open Day this weekend
Doors Open Day comes to West Dunbartonshire this Saturday (September 14), giving residents the chance to explore some of the area’s rich history.
The event is held every two years and some venues that usually charge an entrance fee will have free entry on the day.
Places open to explore range from the Old Kirk beyond Gartocharn to the gardens at Robin House.

There’s the heavy machinery of the Winch House at Drumkinnon Bay used to pull up the Maid of the Loch onto the slipway.
Then there are the fine murals of the Masonic Lodge in Alexandria.
The fascinating museum in Alexandria Library covering local history such as the textile industry in the Vale, whilst Strathleven House and Dumbarton’s Denny Tank will also be open for free entry.
Dumbarton Fire Station will also welcome visitors as well as the base at Kilbowie Road, Clydebank. Not only are they fascinating to look around you can get close to fire trucks and their crews and learn about fire safety at home.
Elsewhere across West Dunbartonshire you will also find art and history exhibitions such as in the Pavilion in Levengrove Park there will be a display of the art by the local community.
And there are guided walks too. One titled A Walk with our Ancestors will be led by Florence Boyle and will be around Old Kilpatrick unsurprisingly including the local graveyard. The other, by Severine Peyrichou, Antonine Wall Project Development Officer with the council, gives an introduction to the Antonine Wall.
