Jeff Brown is set to bid an emotional goodbye to Look North on Friday night, after his exit has already left one of his co-stars in tears this week.

Having been a popular anchor on the programme for 21 years, It was Jeff himself who broke the news that he was leaving Look North, taking to X in March to write; "News just in…after nearly 21yrs with BBC Look North ⁦ @BBCLN I’m moving on. Projects in the pipeline with BBC & others, but (as you can see) it’s been fun, and a huge, wonderful part of my life. Thanks for watching."

Well two months later, Jeff, who won the Royal Television Society award for Best Sport in 2022, will host his final Look North broadcast, having already hosted alongside some of his BBC colleagues one last time over the past week,. Last Friday, Jeff sat alongside Dawn Thewliss for a final time and then, earlier this week, fellow long serving Look North presenter Carol Malia was left wiping tears away as she said her goodbyes to him.

Jeff will be on screen for a final time at 6.30pm on May 24 and, reacting to a clip of him and Carol posted on X, one viewer wrote: "Ahhh man, it's not gonna be the same. We hold you in same regard as Mike Neville. Gonna be a big miss."

Equally upset at Jeff leaving, another replied: "Congratulations on a great TV career Jeff, you will be a big miss on the telly at tea time, but good luck in whatever you have planned next. Top man" as a third posted: "You’ll be a miss, hard shoes to fill good luck for the future"
