Loose Women branded 'hypocrites' after grilling chef James Martin over his weight
The Loose Women are being called out on a double standard, after yesterday’s interview with TV chef James Martin turned to his weight.
Martin was on the ITV morning show to talk up his new TV series James Martin’s Great British Adventure, where he tours the country championing British produce.
In one sequence for the show, he told the panel how he’d taken his mum out to a pub in Yorkshire where they reputedly serve the ‘best scampi in the world’.
It was then that host Janet Street-Porter grilled Martin over whether his mother is critical of his appearance.
“100% hence I’m wearing a jacket,” said Martin.
“What about weight?” Street-Porter asked back.
Martin then added: “Weight is quite a big issue. Now she’s got a big TV. It never used to be a problem when she had a little TV. It’s all relative. HD is horrific.
“I’ve never been a little lad. I’m 6ft 4 and 18 stone.”
But viewers soon pointed out that had their guest been female, questions like that would likely have been off the table.
Why are the Loose Women grilling him on his weight? They wouldn't do it to a woman. #loosewomen

#LooseWomen think its ok to body shame someone yet are always going on about being confident in your own skin. Talk about double standards. You should all be ashamed of how you spoke to @jamesmartinchef about his weight. Totally let yourselves down, you 'perfect' ladies
