The Loose Women panel faced a backlash online after they were shown having their hair and make-up done for a ‘natural’ photoshoot.
The panellists, bar Ruth Langsford, recently stripped down to their underwear for a candid shoot to show off their un-airbrushed bodies.
But some took aim at the pampering and accused the Loose Women of failing to uphold their pledge to show off a natural image.
One viewer tweeted: “‘Love your body’ whilst being caked in make up for a photo shoot whose pictures were released in black & white. Right you are, #LooseWomen.”
Another posted: “Loose Women thought the photo shoot was completely natural, but you all had hair make up nails etc, fair enough but not completely natural.”
A third tweeted: “Loose Women banging on about body image and ‘love who you are naturally’... you are all sat there with s*** loads of make up on! #painful.”
@loosewomen I get this whole body imagine campaign. BUT you all had make up and hair done before. So how 'natural' is this?!— Helen Holder (@hholder3) May 2, 2017
@loosewomen Love it but they all had make up and hair done by professionals!! Not like the real world 😉— Clodette (@louiseymum) May 2, 2017
@loosewomen should your photo be shown in natural light.. no black and white filter, no professional make up, no professional hairdressers!— MDraper (@Michelledraper5) May 2, 2017
the amount of make up they are still puttingon & tanned up?? Errrrrrrrrrr natural NOT then ?? #LooseWomen— 🎶Lady Scully🎶 (@LadyScully) May 2, 2017
Robson, Solomon, Moore, McLean, Janet Street-Porter, Katie Price, Saira Khan, Coleen Nolan and Nadia Sawalha all stripped down for the shoot as part of ITV’s Body Stories – a new body positive campaign.
Shot by Bryan Adams, the women can be seen laughing and smiling in front of the camera in a bid to encourage women to embrace their cellulite, scars and stretch marks.
The latest criticism came hours after Khan called out a Muslim man who slammed her for stripping off and flaunting her “precious body parts”.
The online troll said he was “disgraced” by the image and told Khan she was not a role model for young girls.
Khan hit back by calling him a “narrow minded, misogynistic, brainwashed, backward idiot”.
Loose Women is on ITV, weekdays at 12.30pm.
