Loose Women presenters drink their own wee live on lunchtime show

It takes a lot to shock the Loose Women audience, but today the panel definitely achieved it.

As seasoned viewers will be aware, the presenters are no ones to shy away from trying new things – but in this case it had even the hardened stars, such as Nadia Sawalha gagging.

After discussing the ideas – and alleged health benefits – of ‘urine therapy’, the day’s presenters were shocked when Nadia, 53, produced a small plastic container filled with what appeared to be her own wee.

After the laughter had died down, it was left for the show’s panel to decide if they were brave enough to down a shot of the pale stuff in front of a live studio audience and plenty of people watching at home.

Drinking one’s own urine has, according to a number of bloggers and Hollywood stars, positive benefits such as an energy boost and vitality. The first victim, however, was one of the show’s producers who, from the control room, sheepishly drank some wee before almost heaving.

After the producer had swallowed his load, Nadia then preceded to do the same, as she sat at the LW table. She tried to get Denise van Outen, 43, to get involved but she declined.

And if that wasn’t enough, Kaye Adams – the show’s host who was stranded up in snowy Scotland – appeared in a live link to, you’ve guessed it, drink her own pee, too.

With Kaye’s, 55, sample looking decidedly see-through, Nadia questioned whether it was genuine: ‘That looks like water to me!’ she exclaimed.

Viewers tuning in over lunch were left less than impressed.

‘Urine therapy’ is said to have been around since ancient times, as Aztecs used it to disinfect wounds, but you won’t find a big list of doctors and nutritionists lining up to encourage you to down your own bladder waste.

The LW panelists are rarely out of he headlines for various reasons; whether it’s the horrible news about Katie Price’s dog being run over and killed last week, Coleen Nolan writing a very public open letter announcing her divorce, or guests like Kelly Brook appearing to argue that women need to be responsible for their actions amidst sexual assault.

Catch Loose Women each weekday, at 12.30pm, on ITV1.
