Many Loose Women fans have jumped to Denise Welch's defence, as they accused co-star Janet Street-Porter of 'belittling' her live on air, during a discussion about education.

Both Geordie star Denise and journalist Janet have been long serving panellists on the ITV daytime show for years, regularly sitting next to each other to air their opinions on all manner of topics, from current affairs, politics and celebrity scandal and, earlier this week, Janet aimed a dig at Denise that didn't sit well with viewers at home, as they talked about what qualifications they left school with.

Talking about her school days on Tyneside, Denise remarked: "When I was doing my 'O' Levels, my mum and dad could have offered me the world and I would have still climbed down the drainpipe to go and be with my boyfriend. I was awful as regards revising and studying and it just wasn't for me."

The ex Coronation Street and Waterloo Road actress went onto reveal that she end up leaving school with 5 O Levels, including one in needlework, prompting Janet to scoff and reply: "Is that all?!" Not taking Janet's remark lying down, Denise then responded: "And we're all on the same show, thank you very much!"

While Denise seemed to see the funny side of Janet's put-down, Loose Women viewers at home weren't as quick to forgive, with one taking to X to blast: "I must say I was cross with JSP boasting about how many O'Levels she achieved and belittling Denise for achieving 5 O' Levels and one being for needlework. How disgusting. Who does she think she is. I was impressed with Denise's responses to the digs JSP made."

Another annoyed fan Janet rude, especially after she'd branded Denise a 'compulsive cheater' earlier on in the show.
