Ruth Langsford was nowhere to be seen as Loose Women aired for the first time after her divorce from husband Eamonn Holmes was announced at the weekend.

There was shock amongst TV fans on Saturday afternoon when it was confirmed that the couple, who have been married for 14 years and together for a lot longer, were going their separate ways, with a spokesperson for the pair revealing that their 'marriage was over' and were 'in the process of divorcing.'

As well as being married and having son, Jack, 20, Ruth and Eamonn also hosted This Morning together for a number of years, being the ITV show's main Friday presenters and holiday cover, before they were dropped from their role at the end of 2020 and replaced with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, before Eamonn left ITV completely in 2021 to take up a position with GB News.

While she has only presented This Morning once since Eamonn's exit, Ruth has remained one of the main anchors on Loose Women, regularly hosting on Mondays and Tuesdays; however, it wasn't Ruth in the host's chair when cameras rolled on Monday's episode, with Charlene White instead the star chairing proceedings, as she was joined by Linda Robson, Kelle Bryan and Gloria Hunniford.

Viewers at home get their first look at the panel during a preview on This Morning and, noticing that Ruth wasn't there, it didn't take people long to react online, with one fan taking to X to write: "No Ruth on #loosewomen today?" and another predicting a statement of sorts, as they posted: "Just you wait and watch.... We here at the Loose Women family wish Ruth all the strength during this difficult time"

The fact that Ruth's split from Eamonn wasn't the main talking point on the programme also caused a bit of a stir, as one viewer reacted: "I thought Loose Women would lead with Eamon & Ruth’s split"
