Lord Alan Sugar may have made his name in electronics – but he is clearly having trouble navigating the Internet.

The business mogul has been mocked online after taking at face value a satirical news story claiming Taylor Swift has tattooed a swastika on her face.

Lord Sugar tweeted a link to the story from The Onion asking his 5.4 million followers to help explain.

He posted: “Eh I don't get this. Can someone explain is she making a statement or what?”

The tweet left Lord Sugar wide open to ridicule with some branding him “dumb” while others hailed him a “comedy genius”.

One Twitter user posted: “Lord Sugar thinking that Taylor Swift actually got a swastika tattoo on her face is my new favourite thing.”

Another tweeted: “Really enjoying Lord Sugar thinking that Taylor Swift actually got a swastika tattooed on her face, for attention.”

A third wrote: “Peak twitter is Lord Sugar not understanding TheOnion is fake news and genuinely believing Taylor Swift tattoo'd a swastika across her face.”

Satirical website The Onion jokingly shared a picture of the Photoshopped mock up of Swift with the symbol on her face.
