Lorikeets risk being stung as they compete for nectar with bees on palm flowers

The footage shows a pair of lorikeets collecting pollen from a flowering palm in western Australia. Unfortunately hundreds of honeybees were also after the precious nectar placing the birds at risk of being stung. Rainbow lorikeets are feral birds that feed on pollen and have a brush-like tongue especially adapted to collecting nectar from flowers.
