It's not the first time Kelly has hosted the popular show, with her previously holding down the helm almost two decades ago. She's also appeared on the show as a guest panellist twice.

Of the upcoming episode, Kelly said: "I'm really looking forward to hosting Have I Got News For You again, for the second time.

"The first time I did it was nearly 20 years ago back in 2005, when Paul and Ian were young whippersnappers! It's a chance for me to be unleashed... I can’t wait!"

The episode prior to Kelly's will feature Roy Wood Jr. – the host of the show's US version.

Wood Jr. will guest present the British version in the same week as America's upcoming presidential election.

"Depending on which way the Presidential election goes in America, I might be hanging around England for a while," he joked in a statement.

Merton and Hislop will be joined by Thursday Murder Club author and Pointless star Richard Osman and comedian and actress Roisin Conaty as guest panellists for the sixth episode, which airs on November 8.

Have I Got News For You airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
