Lorraine Kelly pays tribute to Tam Shepherds and cries 'it is the end of an era'
Lorraine Kelly has paid tribute to joke and trick shop Tam Shepherds, saying its closure marks the "end of an era".
The iconic shop on Queen Street recently announced it is shutting shop after 140 years, leaving customers gutted. The shop was first established in 1886 by Tam Shepherd, and has been operated by the Walton family for more than 75 years.
The bricks and mortar store, which is said to be the oldest magic shop in the world, has served countless generations of Glaswegians in its time. And the city's very own TV star, Lorraine took to social media to share her devastation.

She wrote: "Nooooooo @tamshepherds is to close!! Such a big part of my childhood - every trip into “toon” on the bus from Brigton wasn’t complete without a visit to Tam’s to spend my pocket money - you can still visit the online shop but this is the end of an era.
"So sad."
Sharing their own memories in the comments, one fan chimed: "Such a big part of my childhood and many a trip there for some kind of Art School outfit."
Another said: "Oh no! What a shame. The best place to spend pocket money, I remember stink bombs, sweets that made your mouth change colour, snap caps.. buying these things online is so boring, it’s all about the experience isnt it?".

We previously reported how hundreds of former customers shared their disappointment online as they wish the Walton family all the best going forward.
Owner Jean Walton took to social media to share the news that the store stopped trading on November 9, citing concerns over the uncertainty over a redevelopment and high operating costs which has made the business unsustainable.
It comes as the building, which includes the former nightclub Archaos, is set to be partially demolished to make way for a 14-storey student accommodation block. The green-lit project will see 195 beds and a ground-floor retail unit built alongside a cinema, gym, games lounge, dining room, and study area.
