Lorraine Kelly has revealed the key to her successful marriage.

During a quick chat on Good Morning Britain today (March 20), the host explained how she has recently been celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary.

To mark the milestone, she and her husband Steve Smith, who have one child together – 23-year-old Rosie – jetted out to the Antarctic to follow in the footsteps of the presenter's hero Sir Ernest Shackleton and have the holiday of a lifetime.

Susanna Reid quizzed Lorraine about her anniversary during the quick catch-up.

The host laughed: "Aye, that poor man – he's been putting up with me for longer than 25 years actually!"

When asked about the secret to a long-lasting marriage, Lorraine suggested: "I think it's the fact that he still makes me laugh. I like him and he's my pal! I mean, I love him too, but he's my pal."

Piers Morgan then offered his opinion on why Lorraine's husband is so chuffed to have been married to her for so long.

"I think we have just seen what's making him happy – it's that bikini pic of you," he teased.

A red-faced Lorraine, who loves to keep in shape, then giggled as she apologised for recent snaps that have emerged which show off her lean physique.

However, Piers then awkwardly appeared to try and flirt with the presenter as he hinted he was a fan of the photos.

"No apology necessary, Lorraine," he insisted with a smirk on his face.

During the presenter's time off, a string of celebrities stepped in to cover her ITV breakfast show, including Christine Lampard and Helen Skelton.

Fearne Cotton also fronted the programme last week, and hit the headlines for her chats with BFF Holly Willoughby and a newly-reformed Steps – even if Faye Tozer wasn't exactly having the best day.

Lorraine is on ITV, weekdays at 8.30am
