Lorry driver treated for potentially serious injuries after crashing into two buildings
The driver of a lorry who was involved in a collision with two properties has been taken to hospital, a spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) has said. They sustained potentially serious injuries in the crash on the A49 in Shrewsbury this morning (Monday, November 11).
Medics were called to the scene at around 5.30am and the road has remained closed for the entitity of the morning. National Highways has advised motorists that a diversion is in place at time of writing.
Two ambulances were sent to the area alongside two paramedic officers. They treated the lorry driver at the scene before he was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

No one else is thought to have been injured in the incident. A spokesperson for WMAS told BlackCountryLive: "We were called to reports of a lorry that had crashed into a building on Hereford Road, Shrewsbury at 5.27am.
"We sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care car from Cosford to the scene. On arrival crews found a man, who was the driver of the lorry, who they treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment."
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police added that the crash involved two properties. They said: "We received a call around 5:20am this morning (11 November) with a report of a road traffic collision on the A49 between Lower Pulley Lane and Sharpstone Lane.
"Officers arrived to find a lorry had collided with two properties. The driver sustained injuries not thought to be life threatening. The road is likely to be closed for some time."
