Lostprophets paedophile Ian Watkins made 'sick jokes' about toddler as he 'groomed' young mum from prison

A young mum has had her two-year-old daughter removed from her care after she was “groomed” by paedophile rocker Ian Watkins from prison, it has been reported.

The 21-year-old mum first met the Lostprophets frontman when she was just 16 and a fan of the rock band, and she went on to exchange letters and visit him in his high-security jail.

Concerned friends alerted the police and social services when they caught wind of the mum’s growing relationship with Watkins, with the fan admitting that he had once made a sick comment about her toddler watching her have sex.

Watkins was imprisoned in 2013.

The Sun report that the mum believed that the star was innocent after he was jailed for 35 years in 2013 for child sex crimes, which included the attempted rape of a baby.

She wrote to Watkins, 40, in prison last July to let him know that he still had fans, and recieved a letter back which said that he loved her.

She then visited Watkins in Wakefield Prison, West Yorks, last November and was left “shocked” by his dishevelled appearance, a friend told the publication.

The star is said to have gained weight, gone grey, and had rotten teeth, with the meeting leaving the mum feeling “scared” – especially when he asked her what she’d do if her two-year-old “came into the room during sex”.

The 21 year old reportedly insisted to her friend that she wouldn’t let her daughter near him, but her child was removed from her care in December after police took away her mobile phone and laptop.

Still, the mum went on to visit Watkins in prison multiple more times, although jail bosses insisted that “nothing untoward” had been found in their letters.

During Watkins’ trial it was heard that he would groom his young female fans in order to sexually abuse their children, and the NSPCC were left “sickened” that the rockstar is still able to groom his fans from behind bars.

They told The Sun: “This is an absolute shambles. We’re sickened. It’s utterly bewildering that he could carry on grooming.

“It shows contempt for children he abused, and raises serious questions about supervision.”

It is unclear whether or not the young mum has had her daughter returned to her care, but a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We will always take action to safeguard vulnerable adults and children.”
