Loud Thunderclap as Lightning Strikes in Edinburgh

A slow-moving thunderstorm over Edinburgh and its surrounding areas saw dramatic lightning bolts illuminate the city’s night sky on August 11

This video, shared by Steve Marsh, shows a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder as lightning strikes over the Scottish capital.

Marsh told Storyful he shot the video “during an amazing and prolonged thunder and lightening storm.”

“It was very close and genuinely made us jump,” he said.

The Met Office said August 11 had been a “damaging night” with some places hit with in excess of 80 mm of rain, frequent lightning, hail and flooding. Credit: Steve Marsh via Storyful
