Louise Redknapp breaks silence on ‘tough’ divorce from Jamie

Louise Redknapp has opened up on her “tough” divorce from Jamie Redknapp, insisting he remains her “best friend”.

The celebrity couple called time on their relationship in mid-2017 before being granted a divorce after 19 years of marriage in the December.

“It’s been really tough,” she told Jamie Theakston on Heart Radio. “But I mean, you know, he’s my best friend. It’s been really tough but things happen. I saw him yesterday and it was all good.”

She added: “We had school meetings and stuff, like you do, so all good.”

Louise and Jamie tied the knot on a luxury yacht in Bermuda in 1998. They have two children together: sons Charley and Beau.

Louise filed for divorce in 2017 and said the marriage had irretrievably broken down because of Jamie’s “unreasonable behaviour”.

The Eternal singer, 44, shut down talk of a new romance ahead of Valentine’s Day, telling Theakston she “hates” the occasion.

Subtly grilling her on her love life Theakston said: “Watch how cleverly I disguise this question – it’s Valentine’s Day in a week’s time, have you got anything planned?”

Louise replied: “Oh god! Do you know what, no! I hate Valentine’s Day now!”

After Theakston asked “why” she snapped back: “What do you mean, why?”

Louise said she will be spending the day in a restaurant with her friend.

The popstar, who recently pulled out of Dolly Parton musical 9-5 after splitting open her chin, said she “lost” herself during her marriage to ex-sportsman Jamie and that she had fallen into a “comfort zone”.
