'Love and hope' at festive concert in Plymouth for bereavement charity
A popular choir is hosting a festive concert for a Plymouth charity providing bereavement support for children and young people. "Jingle & Joy" will be a "magical evening of music and community", organisers say.
The evening in aid of Jeremiah's Journey will be presented by La La Choirs, one of the largest non-audition choirs in the region. The concert will be supported by Plymouth City Brass and feature a special appearance from the ‘Jeremiah’s Joy’ Singing Group.
The year-round project provides a safe, supportive space for any families and individuals who have experienced the death of someone close, as well as those facing the anticipatory grief of having a relative who is dying. It aims to help participants connect, bond and heal together through music and song.

The group has been rehearsing for months in preparation for the concert guided by Sam Abrahams, musical director of La La Choirs and Jeremiah’s Journey ambassador. Members of the Jeremiah’s Journey team who support bereaved families will also join in the performance.
She said: "Music has the power to heal and bring people together. Working with Jeremiah’s Joy Singing Group has been a privilege, and their performance will be a highlight of the evening. We hope the audience will feel the beauty and meaning that their voices represent."
Tanya Woodland, chief executive of Jeremiah’s Journey, said: "For families living with grief - whether it’s children who’ve lost parents, parents who’ve lost children, or adults reflecting on the death of a parent in their own childhood - Christmas can be an especially poignant time.
"‘Jeremiah’s Joy’ is a project that brings people together, offering comfort, connection, and moments of happiness. This concert will be a truly special evening, filled with love, hope, and community spirit."
The concert, sponsored by Michael Spiers Jewellers, will take place on Saturday, December 7 at Plymouth Methodist Central Hall. Tickets are available now via the La La Choirs’ website.
All proceeds will go to Jeremiah’s Journey.
