Love Islander viewers finally got the moment that they had been waiting for when Gemma Owen mentioned her famous dad, Michael Owen, after weeks of build-up.

During Thursday night’s episode, the 19-year-old not only spoke openly about the former England footballer, she also shared that she went to nursery with David Beckham’s sons.

As Owen got ready for the night, Antigoni Buxton asked her: “Sorry, excuse me if I’m being ignorant, but is your dad like very very well-known? He played for England, right?,” to which Owen replied: “Yeah.”

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, who was also doing her make-up, then enquired: “Do you like David Beckham’s sons?”, with Owen then responding: “Well, I went to nursery with his sons, yeah.”

While dumped islander Ikenna Ekwonna recently revealed that the villa residents were already aware of Owen’s famous dad, this is the first time that she had spoken about it on screen and fans were loving it.

“Oh wow first time they actually aired something about Gemma’s dad,” wrote one viewer on Twitter.

“The weight that must be lifted off gemma’s underage shoulders, she’s been itching to mention her dad,” remarked a second.

“SHE DROPPED THE DAD BOMB???,” said another.

Some also voiced concern that Luca Bish, 23, who is currently coupled up with Owen, is only interested in the dressage rider so he can meet her dad.

“If they all seem to know who Gemma’s dad is then I feel like Luca got wind of this a while ago and that’s why he’s going in heavy!” wrote one.

“Now that I know Luca knows who Gemma’s dad is…. It’s clear why he’s forcing this relationship no matter what. Secure the bag Luca,” agreed another.

Bish may have to watch his back however as ITV2 have confirmed that Casa Amor will be returning to shake things up.

It will see the contestants split between two villas and new Islanders introduced to push couples to the limit with three couples at risk of being dumped.

A neon sign with the words “Casa Amor” could be seen flashing at the end of Thursday night’s episode meaning that the infamous second villa will soon be introduced.
