'Love Island' star Amy Hart on why she quit the show: 'I put my sanity first’
Love Island star Amy Hart has opened up about why she left the villa, despite claims that she was told to quit the ITV2 dating show by the producers.
In an interview with The Sun , the 26-year-old air hostess explained to studio bosses that she’d “had enough” after overhearing former half-boyfriend Curtis Pritchard asking Tommy Fury what it was like when Molly-Mae Hague told him she loved him.

"I was thinking Curtis knows how it feels because I said I loved him," Hart recalled. "I thought, 'I can’t do this to myself anymore'.”
As the Casa Amor aftermath continued to rock the villa, Pritchard admitted to Hart that he had had his ‘head turned’ by newbie Jourdan Riane. The pair kept their distance for a couple of days before Hart confronted the dancer, resulting in him ending their four-week relationship.
Speaking about her decision to deal with the heartbreak away from the cameras, Hart said: “I feel a million times better now I've left, but I defy anyone not to fall apart and be completely heartbroken.
“I chose my mental health over the reality show. It’s not nice. I have to put myself and my sanity first.”
She even went on to claim that she was so upset by the unexpected dumping, that producers kept a close eye on her to ensure that she was looking after herself.

“When I wouldn't eat, they would stand over me and make me eat a bowl of food or I couldn't do the challenges,” she explained to the publication.
Shortly after Pritchard admitted to Hart that he “couldn’t promise he wouldn’t hurt her again” and that it was probably best to call it quits, fellow Islander Maura Higgins pulled the former aside and told him she had feelings for him. But Hart isn’t convinced.
“I think she thought he was the best one left out of the single ones. She wants to be on the show for as long as possible and go the distance. They aren't suited.
“I was in a very horrible place over the last week, to be told that the gloves were off with Maura and I had to 'brace myself', like a storm. I knew I had to leave when I did.”
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
