On tonight's Love Island (July 20), newcomer Paul Knops had a big secret to reveal to partner Laura Anderson about a girl from his past.

Having a late-night chat after the rest of the Islanders had retired to bed, Paul decided the time was now right to tell Laura he once starred in a Britney Spears music video.

Speaking about past jobs, Paul said: "When I was in LA, I think it was one of the first jobs I did out there, they called me up and said, 'Paul, do you fancy doing a music video?' and I was like, 'Ah yeah, cool', and I said, 'Who's it for?' and they were like, 'We're not supposed to tell you who it's for, you have to go for a casting for it, but it's for Britney Spears'."

Viewers immediately hit Google to try and find footage of Paul in the video for Britney's 2016 single 'Make Me'. And they delivered.

But Laura didn't seem too impressed by Paul's celebrity connection and things got worse when he admitted that he kissed Britney in the video.

In fact, her immediate reaction was to ask, "Was she single?"

Turns out Britney was single at the time she kissed Paul, but he tried (with little success) to explain to Laura that it was just "a job" to him.

Laura went on to ask Paul if he thought Britney was "fit" and even tried to call out the popstar on her age, saying she was "pushing 40" (Britney is 36).

So, after viewers had been rooting for Laura following her dumping by Jack Fowler, they weren't pleased with her reaction to Paul's Britney connection.

Was Laura actually jealous of Britney Spears for kissing Paul? In a music video?!

But after the Britney bombshell, Paul bravely decided to go for a kiss with Laura – and she reciprocated.

At least she now has something in common with Britney.

Love Island continues Sunday night (July 22) at 9pm on ITV2, where there'll be another dumping.
