It looks like Sam Bird and Georgia Steel have left Love Island - but they've seemingly quit before the public could get the chance to eliminate them.

News broke late on Wednesday (July 18) that there had been unexpected departures from the villa earlier in the day, with The Mirror later reporting it was Sam and Georgia who chose to walk out in spite of objections from their fellow islanders.

The exact details of their rumoured exits are unknown, but reports suggest that the events of a particularly unsettling recoupling session pushed both over the edge. ITV declined to confirm or deny their departures.

Last week, Sam and Georgia were forced to split up as a couple by their fellow islanders when they finished near the bottom of the latest public vote.

At the time, the ever-loyal Georgia lashed out at her friends for punishing her, complaining: "I don't understand why my fellow Islanders don't believe in us."

Then, fans accused the two of breaking the rules and called for them to be kicked off Love Island completely when they were caught on camera having a kiss, despite being consciously uncoupled.

Love Island producers responded by refusing to forcibly remove Sam and Georgia because they claimed that no actual rules were broken by the illicit kiss.

Hopefully we'll see how this shocking exit plays out when Love Island continues on Thursday (July 19) at 9pm on ITV2. News also broke on Wednesday that the finale is coming soon too, on Monday, July 30.
