Love Island bosses used Tinder to find contestants for the new series of the hit show.

The ITV2 show returns to screens in a few weeks to take over our summer once again , reportedly lasting a week longer than the previous run.

The third series of the show made the likes of Kem Cetinay, Amber Davies, Olivia Attwood and Chris Hughes into reality stars as well as propelling the show to ratings success but senior producer Angela Jain has confessed that they have been looking for a whole different cast this time.

Asked if they used the dating app to find suitors, Jain said: “We don’t want to cast the same characters every time.

“We aren’t looking for the next Camilla or the next Montana, that’s the opposite of what we’re looking for.”

Executive producer Tim Gould, speaking alongside her at the Royal Television Society, added that they look for “different ways to test the couples” during their time in the villa.

He said: “If we’re going to pick a winning couple to win £50,000 at the end, we tell the couples at the beginning that they will be tested.

“We look for the different ways to pick out the fault lines in the relationship and test them.”

The talk comes days after the launch date for the new series was confirmed by the channel, with the show returning on Monday 4 June.

Earlier this month, Love Island officially added a BAFTA to its slew of awards after beating Celebrity Hunted, Old People’s Home for 4 year olds and The Real Full Monty to win Best Reality and Constructed Drama.

Host Caroline Flack – who will once again return with narrator Iain Stirling – accepted the award on behalf of the show.

Love Island starts Monday 4 June at 9pm on ITV2.
